New grant for the purchase and installation of a residential charging station

In order to encourage the purchase of electric vehicles by citizens, the City of Deux-Montagnes is announcing the entry into force of a financial assistance program for the purchase and installation of an electric charging station for residential use.

Financial assistance granted under this program is $100 per residential housing unit. It is unique and non-renewable. The program’s annual budget for each fiscal year is $10,000. The admissibility of applications ends when this budget is exhausted during a fiscal year. The commitment of funds and the delivery of the grant will be made according to the order of receipt of complete applications and in accordance with the provisions of this program. This grant is in addition to the one already offered by the Quebec government.

Eligibility conditions

To be eligible for this financial support, the following conditions must be met:

The applicant must own a residential building located on the territory of Deux-Montagnes. Businesses are not eligible for this program.

The electric charging station acquired must be new and be supplied with a voltage of 240 volts.

The acquisition of the electric charging station must have been made after March 31, 2022 and the subsidy application form must be sent to the City no later than six months following the installation of the charging station.

The charging station must have received approval by certification from an accredited organization and must be on the list of charging stations eligible for the Roulez vert Program of the Government of Quebec.

The charging station installation work must be completed on the date of the subsidy application. This work must be carried out by an electrical contractor who holds a license from the Régie du bâtiment du Québec.

The applicant must authorize a City representative to verify, at the address of the charging station installation, the conformity of the information provided.

A subsidy may be paid to the owner at the rate of one charging station for a single-family residential building, 2 charging stations for a two-family, three-family and multi-family residential building and 5 charging stations for a large multi-family residential building of 12 housing units minimum.

Supporting documents

The program application form must be accompanied by the two documents required below for the application to be deemed compliant.

Proof of residence (driver’s license or tax account in the name of the owner).

Legible photocopy of the purchase invoice for the charging station.

Legible photocopy of the invoice for the installation of the charging station carried out by an electrical contractor holding a license from the Régie du bâtiment du Québec. The electrical contractor’s license number must be indicated on the invoice.

Payment of subsidy

When the application is complete and compliant, the subsidy is paid to the owner within 60 days of receipt of the subsidy application form. No subsidy will be paid for eligible work that is not carried out in accordance with this program and the municipal regulations in force.
