Awareness campaign #Partagelaroute

The MRC de Thérèse-De Blainville, in collaboration with the cities of Boisbriand, Blainville, Bois-Des-Filion, Lorraine, Rosemère, Sainte-Anne-Des-Plaines and Sainte-Thérèse, as well as the Régie intermunicipale de police Thérèse-De Blainville, the Service de police de Terrebonne and the Service de police de Blainville, launched the second phase of the #Partagelaroute road safety awareness campaign. This campaign aims to protect vulnerable users in terms of road safety, more specifically targeting sharing of the road.
“The safety of vulnerable users is an issue facing municipalities and the MRC is always willing when the time comes to give birth to initiatives encouraging intermunicipal collaboration. We therefore wish to improve our road record and raise citizens’ awareness, particularly in terms of sharing the road, with an emphasis on the protection of vulnerable people and on the adoption of a safe behavior” declared the prefect of the MRC de Thérèse-De Blainville, Mr. Richard Perreault.
The second phase of the campaign runs from April 14 to May 15 under the theme “SHARING” and is aimed at motorists and cyclists. Awareness will mainly take place through an animation capsule shared on social networks. Also, posters in the colors and images of the campaign will be installed in the municipalities and stickers will be distributed by the police during awareness-raising operations.
“With the return of good weather, sharing the road is essential for the safety of all users. So that our outings remain pleasant, the City of Rosemère invites all users to share the road safely. By bike, on foot or by car, be courteous. We are all part of the solution! », affirmed Mr. Eric Westram, Mayor of Rosemère.
According to the SAAQ, a little more than one in two people in Quebec rides a bicycle. In 2019, crashes mainly occurred at an intersection with the cyclist and driver traveling in intersecting (perpendicular) directions. According to the police, the most frequently mentioned causes of road accidents causing victims to cyclists are inattention and distraction!
This campaign is being carried out thanks to the financial assistance program of the Road Safety Fund of the Ministère des Transports du Québec.
