Rosemère Mayor Hélène Daneault is pledging to hold a public consultation meeting with residents who live near a Grande-Côte Road resto-pub, in response to their complaints about noise and disturbances.
“Every summer we have to go there and meet the owner and ask to do something about the noise,” Daneault said in an interview with the North Shore News. The target of the complaints, Resto-Pub O’Neill’s, changed ownership recently.
Summer of complaints
The complaints have mostly tended to come during the summer when the establishment serves clients outdoors and loud music is also more audible even at distances. “We plan to act before next summer so it won’t happen again,” said Daneault.
Thirty-eight residents of streets near the resto-pub signed a petition this past summer which was submitted to Rosemère city council. A spokesman at the head office of Resto-Pub O’Neill, who did not want to be identified, said they were surprised to learn about the complaints after acquiring the business a year ago.
Live music
He said live music has been eliminated on Thursday nights and they’ve also been actively cooperating with the police to bring down the noise. The spokesman said the previous owner might not always have abided strictly by the terms of the resto-pub’s liquor permit, which stipulate that alcoholic drinks can only be served when accompanied by a full meal. He insisted the current owners have taken measures to assure that the liquor law is respected fully.
