On Saturday, Aug. 7, the downtown area of Rosemère will be coming alive as never before with Italian style for Viva Italia! Proceeds from the international-style event taking place from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. will be going towards finding new ways of treating autism in children.
Repeat success
“After the enormous success of the celebration we staged last year, which was Mexican-style, we hope to repeat the trend this year under an Italian theme,” Mayor Hélène Daneault said last week while announcing it to local media. The city is doing it in conjunction with the Association des gens d’affaires de Rosemère (AGAR), which is taking responsibility for managing things.
Rose Lacroix, the president of AGAR, believes the event will be an opportunity for the association to raise its profile. “This is a unifying project which will make our group better known, as it will also for the business people who are our members, and everyone will be winners by becoming better known to the population,” she said.
A win-win event
According to Lacroix, Rosemère residents will draw significant benefits. Daneault and Lacroix both agree that this is a collective effort which will be a sendoff for a lasting collaboration that is sure to be highly beneficial to the community, whether they are residents or businesses. For the event, Rosemère’s highly successful marché public will be open, with a distinctly Italian flavour.
There’ll be a display of Ferrari sports cars, a wine and food tasting, activities for the children at the nearby municipal pool, a chorus of singers, a music show and outdoor movies. During the evening, they’ll be screening the Italian classic, La Dolce Vita. To make it all possible, chemin de la Grande Côte will be closed between Adelard and Hector streets from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. However, alternate routes will be provided.
