>

The formation of a new family medicine group (GMF) on the territory of Thérèse-de-Blainville will help improve access and quality of care to approximately 15 000 patients. The GMF Fontainebleau has a collaborative agreement with the Center for Health and Social Services (CSSS) de Thérèse-De Blainville, which will provide the services of two nurses who support a team of 10 doctors. This team will ensure better care, better support, and better monitoring of patients numbering between 12 000 to 15 000.
"This new GMF will improve access and quality of care provided to these patients and contribute to our efforts to relieve the emergency services of the Laurentians," explained Marc Fortin, president and CEO of L'Agence de la santé et des services sociaux des Laurentides. The new services for monitoring and support will help GMF grow gradually with the hiring of two nurses by June 2009. "Our mission is to provide primary care to the population we serve," said André Poirier, executive director of the CSSS Thérèse-De Blainville.
The two nurses assigned to GMF may carry out a range of activities including prevention, health promotion, screening and systematic monitoring of vulnerable groups, which is of great benefit to citizens. They will also provide support to medical practice to make it more effective. "It is clear that several patients in the GMF Fontainebleau receive a more adequate to their health condition so that they avoid having to go to the emergency room for various consultations," said Fortin.
The GMF Fontainebleau is the third in the territory of Thérèse-de-Blainville after Blainville- La Source and Lorraine. The development of GMF is a willingness to provide the citizens with better access to health care and social services.
