Rosemere donates $5,000 to Red Cross fund for Haiti relief
Issues match or surpass challenge to other North Shore towns

The Town of Rosemere has issued a challenge to other municipalities on the North Shore: match or surpass a $5,000 donation to Haitian earthquake relief, which Rosemere made to the Red Cross last week. During a presentation made at Rosemere town hall, Adler Louis-Jean, a coordinator at Rosemere’s Maison des Jeunes, recounted how several members of his family in Haiti haven’t been heard from since the calamity on Jan. 12.

Dr.Yvette Edouard, an anesthesiologist who founded of March City Med, an organization providing health care in Haiti, is prepared to return there to bring aid to the country her parents left to come to Canada. But as of last week, she couldn’t get a flight. She told of amputations being carried out now without anesthetic amidst the devastatation. “We must help Haiti,” she said. Edouard said she went into medicine (she is a graduate of the University of Montreal) to help Haiti’s poor.
