Twenty-five first-year students of the transport logistics program at the College Lionel-Groulx took on quite a challenge during their winter semester as part of their project management class.
Throughout the semester, the students had to organize a meet-and-greet with logistics professionals to promote themselves and to learn more about their future career. This year, with their teacher Patricia Mariette, they participated in an activity outside the College called Aventure Pirate.
Four teams, made up of students, professionals and teachers, had to build a makeshift raft to complete a race. They had to be resourceful, ingenious and show good team spirit, which are all qualities needed in future logisticians.
To increase the challenge’s difficulty, it was decided that the students should partly finance their project by various activities, as well as make profits which would then be offered to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Throughout the semester, the students met with companies to fundraise this project and organize diverse activities (spaghetti dinners, picking up empty cans in their neighbourhood, chair massages, student night, haircuts, etc…). The end result was quite successful seeing as how this class project allowed them to raise $3,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society.
