Organizers of the Deux-Montagnes are encouraging everyone to come
out on June 7 for this popular running event, not only for the sake of
health, but to do good for a worthy cause.

Runners in the third annual Deux-Montagnes Challenge, a foot race organized by the Ventus Club in conjunction with the City of Deux-Montagnes, will be lining up at the start line on June 7 in Central Park.
The 2009 edition of this popular event is taking place under the honorary co-presidency of a team made up of Mayor Marc Lauzon, Fernand Biard of CIBC Wood Gundy, Jacques Gauthier, an experienced marathon runner who has taken part in no less than 45 marathons and close to 500 foot races, Stéphane Martel, owner of Métro famille Martel, and Mario D’Annunzio.
Back a third time
“The first time I did this race I lost 40 pounds, the second time 35,” says Lauzon, noting that the event serves a useful purpose in helping keep him in shape. “I’m really proud to see this event returning a third time,” says Glenda Esguerra, one of the race’s co-founders.
“The first time I approached Mayor Lauzon about it, I said I’d like to put Two Mountains on the map,” she adds. “I think we’re on our way to doing that because people are registering from outside of town. It’s a great cause to try to get kids back into physical activity. We all know as parents that physical activities for kids have been diminishing over the years. So we’d like to be encouraging that with other families.”

The Ventus Club encourages running for health, pleasure, and competition. Its mission is to promote the benefits of physical activity and the Deux-Montagnes Challenge event responds to its guidelines.
