To celebrate the 1st anniversary since the construction of Manoir Phase II, the Deux-Montagnes City Council and the Corporation du Manoir Grand-Moulin threw a party for the residents. Everyone was invited to a dinner at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall this Friday evening and an official photographer was there to immortalize the moment.
No less than 100 residents took part in the event which marked the end of construction of Manoir Phase II. Remember that this building consists of 62 social-housing units for seniors with a slight loss of autonomy and was built to better respond to the growing demand of the retiring population throughout the territory. This building is particular in that it was built according to the LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) certification standards. This means this construction met several requirements such as sustainable site design, quality materials, effective water and energy management, indoor environmental quality, etc. Also considered were green space enhancement and landscaping architecture. The selected site provided access for all residents to the dining room of the Manoir Grand-Moulin I. This arrangement and proximity are favourable to reinforcing the social and community fabric.
During dinner, the Mayor, Marc Lauzon, explained: “This construction is the fruit of long-term teamwork. It was very important for us to mark the 1st anniversary of its opening.” This complex structure did bring its share of disturbances for the occupants of Manoir I, “I’d like to gratefully thank the residents who were subjected to the annoying disturbances of such a construction project going on next door. Their patience is worthy of mention and I thank them for their collaboration,” he added. Daniel Denis, President of the Corporation du Manoir Grand-Moulin, stated: “The Manoir’s administrative team and personnel did everything in their power to make the residents’ lives easier and keep the inconveniences to a minimum during construction.”
A slide show of the work in progress was then projected, revealing the scope of the work accomplished in this endeavour. The evening ended in a festive atmosphere, as all the guests returned home to Manoir I and II.
