Rosemère Library hosts a Rosemère citizen’s great Atlantic crossing
(NSN)

Are you fond of adventure and dream of embarking on great journeys? Don't miss the conference hosted by Gilles Chaumillon, who will visit the library on Wednesday May 13 at 7:30 p.m. to recount the highs and lows of the Great Atlantic Crossing which he took part in during the summer of 2008.
It's in the wake of Samuel de Champlain's journey that the Rosemère citizen of French origin undertook the out of the ordinary expedition to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the founding of Quebec City. Taking to the sea with two comrades, the adventurer ventured on a journey lasting forty days, which allowed the crew to travel approximately 3550 km between La Rochelle in France and Quebec.
Organized by his stepfather, the Great Crossing has enabled him to achieve a childhood dream. Even if almost fifty yachts sailed off, it took only a few hours for the seamen to be completely isolated from other competitors across the vast ocean. Cut off from the world for weeks, they were at times overwhelmed by the beauty of the open water, and at times overcome by hardships during terrible storms. They also had the opportunity to see, firsthand, the bad shape of our planet and the surprising amount of waste in ours oceans.
Sign up to have the privilege of hearing the story of this extraordinary adventure and the strong relationships that have been woven. It's an appointment not to be missed on Wednesday May 13 at 7:30 p.m. at Rosemère Library (339 Grande-Côte). It is important to register in advance at the library, by phone at (450) 621-6132, or by email at biblio@ville.rosemere.qc.ca.
