This past weekend, the City of Rosemere held its first exhibition featuring vintage cars and mini-trains. The event was part of Rosemere's 50th anniversary festivities and considered a success by organizers. On June 21, about 2000 people came out to see over 150 antique cars showcased. "Many people wanted to take their picture with cars dated the year they were born," noted Nicolas Constantine, the event coordinator for Rosemere's 50th anniversary celebrations.
On Saturday and Sunday, an exhibition featuring classic mini-trains took place at the Memorial Community Center. Organized by the Transportation by Rail across Quebec group, (TRAQ) the event attracted over 700 people. Seeing the trains in motion was a highlight for both parents and children. It was a reminder of Rosemere's roots, when in 1880, an officer on the Canadian Pacific named J.P Whitting named the town after noting the abundance of wild roses. Also, in the early twentieth century, the first locomotive in Rosemere was a major contributor to the region's growth.
