Marie-Claude Collin, a veteran Blainville city councillor who is on the ballot for the Liberals in the April 7 election, sees highway transportation as one of the most important issues to Blainville residents.

Vicki Émard, who is running for the Liberal Party of Quebec in the riding of Groulx in the April 7 provincial election, thinks the Parti Québécois may be in for a surprise if they assume the area’s typically suburban voters will take an easy liking to the PQ’s star candidate Martine Desjardins.

In an effort to generate revenues from as many potential sources as possible, the City of Deux-Montagnes has introduced the first draft of a bylaw that would allow the municipality to lease space in certain key areas close to Autoroute 640 for the erection of commercial billboards.

While Rosemère mayor Madeleine Leduc says Canada Post caught her off guard when it recently announced the cancellation of door-to-door mail delivery in part of Rosemère, the town will be taking part in a mounting campaign to restore the service.

With all the music industry skill and experience that’s gone into putting together the first recording studio for young people in Rosemère, the chances are good that a few musical hits may be the payoff sometime in the near future.

Bright sunlight shining warmly down on Rosemère’s Charbonneau Park on a frigid February afternoon was seemingly enough to convince a few thousand residents they should come out to the town’s annual winter carnival last Sunday.

Some Deux-Montagnes residents with concerns about cellular antennae atop the steeples of local churches and at one of the city’s largest parks were told by Mayor Denis Martin during city council’s monthly meeting on Feb. 13 that the city has relatively little say in such matters and that their questions should be directed to Industry Canada which oversees the country’s telecommunications.

The Montreal Canadiens hosted last Tuesday February 4th, their 7th annual bursary award ceremony with the Quebec Foundation for Athletic Excellence.

There was something for everyone bold enough to brave the deep cold of a Quebec winter on Jan. 25, when the Deux-Montagnes Lions Club once again staged their annual winter carnival for Deux-Montagnes families in Olympia Park.
